Dental Examination
A dental check-up with Dr. Oscroft offers a meticulous examination using over 40 years of expert experience. He identifies potential issues early and provides personalised advice and preventive care, ensuring your oral health is optimised and your smile remains confident, healthy, and beautifully maintained.
Scale & Polish
A dental scale and polish is a professional treatment that removes plaque, tartar, and surface stains from teeth. It helps prevent gum disease, freshens breath, and leaves your smile clean and smooth. Regular sessions maintain optimal oral health and enhance your teeth’s natural brightness.
White Fillings
White composite fillings offer a natural, tooth-coloured solution that blends perfectly with your smile. They protect against decay, strengthen teeth, and avoid the visible metal of traditional fillings, providing durable, discreet, and highly aesthetic results that enhance both health and confidence.
Onlays, Crowns & Bridges
When a tooth has lost a lot of its strength or surface, we may restore it with an indirect onlay or crown, usually over two visits: one to prepare the tooth and one to fit the lab-made restoration. Onlays and crowns can be made from materials such as eMax, porcelain, or gold, and we will help you choose the most suitable option based on appearance and biting forces. With good care, they can often last 20 years or more. Missing teeth can also be replaced with a bridge, which uses one or two neighbouring teeth to support a false tooth, though this usually involves removing some healthy tooth tissue from the supporting teeth.
Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is a gentle way to save a tooth that would otherwise be lost, while also getting you out of pain. During the procedure, the infected or inflamed nerve inside the tooth is cleaned and sealed, allowing the tooth to stay in place and function normally again. The benefits include keeping your own natural tooth (which looks and feels better than a replacement), relieving toothache, stopping the spread of infection, and allowing you to chew comfortably and smile with confidence. Modern techniques and anaesthetics mean root canal treatment is typically a comfortable, virtually pain-free procedure, with a recovery that is often easier than having the tooth removed.
Extraction
A dental extraction is a routine procedure to gently remove a tooth that can no longer be saved due to decay, damage, infection, or crowding. After fully numbing the area, Dr Oscroft carefully loosens the tooth and lifts it out of its socket, then cleans the area and places gauze to help a blood clot form and start healing. Extractions can relieve pain, stop the spread of infection, make space for orthodontic treatment, and protect the health of your remaining teeth. In many cases, removing a problematic tooth also makes it easier to restore your smile with options such as implants, bridges, or dentures.
Dentures
Modern cosmetic dentures offer a dependable way to replace several missing teeth, from a single tooth to a full arch, and are carefully planned over a series of visits for impressions, try-ins, bite assessment, and final fitting. It’s important not to rush this process, especially when dentures are placed after extractions, as your gums and bone need time to settle so the denture can fit closely and comfortably against your soft tissues. Dentures can be made from chrome or acrylic and are often an affordable solution for restoring your smile. They can also have an anti-ageing effect by adding support and fullness to cheeks and lips, helping to reduce the sunken appearance that can occur after tooth loss.
